As of Oct. 27, all new commercial aircraft must have seats that are able to withstand a crash of 16 times the force of gravity. That's less force than in a 30 mph head-on car collision.
Because when you're falling 500 miles per hour it's reassuring to know to know you have a big soft cushion to put your head against. Really? I mean you might as well put teddy bears there to play with while you plummet to your almost certain death..
